Isla is a high waist flare legging that opens gradually below the knee, which lengthens the line and keeps the fabric off the calf. It also lets the hem sit over a shoe rather than bunching behind it.
The high waist is cut to sit at the natural waist rather than below it, so the panel stays put through forward folds and deep hinges instead of sliding down and needing a mid session adjustment. Full coverage across the midsection also means the legging works alone, without a longer top layered over it to compensate.
Regular block construction with a tatting weave keeps the structure simple and durable. Fewer panels means fewer seams, and fewer seams means fewer points that can pull apart under repeated stretch. Ankle length gives full coverage to the ankle bone without extra fabric pooling at the foot.
