The Mathilde is a long double breasted overcoat with a clean, tailored shape. It has a notch lapel, two rows of buttons and flap pockets, in a smooth woven fabric with a soft, brushed look. It is the coat that makes everything underneath look considered, worn over a suit to work or over jeans and trainers at the weekend.
The outer is woven polyester with no stretch, so it keeps a straight, structured line, and a full polyester lining runs inside so it slides easily over knitwear. The fit is loose through the body, cut to fall straight from the shoulder with room for a sweater underneath. Wear it buttoned for a sharp look, or open over a turtleneck for an easier one. In black it works with grey tailoring, denim and every colour of knitwear you already own.
The length falls below the knee, giving a long, elegant line over trousers, jeans and dresses alike. Care is simple: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and line dry in the shade, then hang it on a wide hanger to keep the shoulders in shape. It is a classic overcoat for the commute, the office and every cold day in between, from late autumn to the end of winter.
